Israel Police and Shin Bet Investigate Deadly Jenin Attack on Israelis

Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency have concluded their investigation into an attack on an Israeli woman and her son who mistakenly entered Jenin on August 13. Two suspects have been arrested and are expected to be charged soon. The mother and son were traveling from Samaria to Afula when a navigation error led them into the Palestinian city. According to police, a crowd surrounded their car, blocked its path, and smashed the windows. Authorities have classified the incident as an attempted lynching. The driver managed to escape and reach Israeli security forces.

The investigation was conducted by the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police and the Shin Bet. After identifying the suspects, they were apprehended and interrogated, with their detention extended multiple times by the court. Evidence has been gathered, and the case is being prepared for indictment.

Israeli law prohibits citizens from entering Area A territories, which include Jenin. Police advise citizens to verify their routes in advance and to contact emergency services immediately if they accidentally enter such areas.
