New Tourist Trail Launched in Samaria to Boost Regional Economy

On September 22, 2026, a cornerstone was laid for the "Joshua Trail," a new accessible tourist route in the Samaria settlement of Elon Moreh. The initiative, a joint effort by the Ministry of Tourism and local authorities in Judea and Samaria, received 3.2 million shekels in funding. The project includes the construction of a suspension bridge designed to connect the Elon Moreh Heritage Center with the summit of Mount Kabir, passing through scenic and historical sites. The Ministry of Heritage, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and the Judea and Samaria local authorities cluster are also involved in the project's implementation.

The trail aims to foster domestic tourism and strengthen the regional economy. Tourism Minister Haim Katz stated that the new attraction will enhance the region's accessibility for visitors, comparing Samaria's potential to "the Israeli Tuscany" due to its landscapes, wineries, and historical significance. Minister of Heritage Amihai Eliyahu emphasized the project's role in national development and its embodiment of the connection between history, settlements, and revival. Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan expressed gratitude for the ministerial partnership, highlighting that biblical sites will become accessible to tourists nationwide. The trail is expected to attract families and hikers, offering panoramic views of Samaria from the suspension bridge upon completion.
