Israel's Defense Minister Threatens Gaza Evacuation Over Hostage-Taking
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning to terrorist organizations, including those supported by Iran and Turkey, stating that the entire city of Gaza would be evacuated to the south if a single Israeli soldier or citizen is abducted. The threat was made during a state ceremony commemorating fallen soldiers from the Yom Kippur War.
Katz specified that the entire population of Gaza, numbering one million residents, would be forced to leave their homes. He referenced past operations, including "Operation Gideon's Chariots - 2," and stated that Gaza would face a similar fate to Rafah and Beit Hanoun, with 70% of the Gaza Strip's territory being dealt with similarly until the hostage is returned.
"Only this language is understood by the jihadist terrorist organizations in Gaza and Lebanon, and this is the language we speak: evacuation of the population, destruction of infrastructure, and seizure of territory," Katz declared, emphasizing that such a response is necessary to deter further abductions.
