Spy Sentenced to Over Three Years for Filming Ex-Defense Minister Gallant's Home

A Haifa Magistrate's Court has sentenced a Palestinian man to 55 months in prison for spying for Iran. The court found Fares Abu Al-Hija, 32, of Jisr al-Zarqa, guilty of contacting a foreign agent. Abu Al-Hija admitted to photographing crowded public places for Iranian intelligence and was later tasked with documenting the home of former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. He received approximately $3,000 for his services.

Abu Al-Hija was arrested earlier this year while on an intelligence gathering mission. His interrogation by the Shin Bet and police led to further revelations. In a separate but related development, the Shin Bet and police revealed that an indictment was filed last week against Sultan Abu Al-Hija, 31, of Tamra. He is suspected of contacting Hamas's military wing and Iranian intelligence officials to provide covert assistance.

Additionally, a 32-year-old resident of Majd al-Krum was arrested on suspicion of maintaining contact for several months with a foreign agent from Lebanon, carrying out security tasks for her in exchange for attempted payments. These cases follow a serious indictment filed last month against Tamirlan Amshukov and Alina Kushnirenko of Ashkelon, who are accused of spying for Iran.
