Forest Fire Contained in Carmel Park on Yom Kippur

A forest fire broke out on Yom Kippur afternoon in Israel's Carmel Park, prompting a swift response from firefighting units from Haifa and Hadera.

Firefighters worked rapidly in the wooded area to halt the flames' spread and prevent them from reaching other parts of the region. The first team on the scene observed a column of smoke rising from the vegetation and trees. Additional forces were dispatched and immediately began containment and firefighting operations at multiple points.

The operation took place in challenging terrain typical of the Carmel area, with a primary goal of stopping the fire before it could penetrate deeper into the forest. Firefighters utilized a drone to provide an aerial view, helping them identify ignition points and direct their efforts. A team from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority also assisted on the ground.

This collaboration, along with the rapid arrival and familiarity with the terrain, enabled the forces to gain control of the incident and prevent the fire from expanding. Incident commander, Chief Fire Officer Guy Rozan, stated that significant smoke was detected upon the initial team's arrival, leading to a rapid reinforcement of forces. He credited the swift actions of the firefighters, the Nature and Parks Authority, and the drone support for achieving control.

Fire and Rescue Services emphasized the importance of quickly containing the blaze due to its location in a wooded area not far from residential homes in Daliyat al-Karmel, making containment crucial to prevent further spread.
