Motley Contrasts Red Star Belgrade and Hapoel Tel Aviv Styles

Jonathan Motley, formerly of Hapoel Tel Aviv, has spoken about the differences between his new team, KK Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), and his former Israeli club. Motley joined the Serbian team from Hapoel Tel Aviv with the aim of returning to the top level of European basketball.

In an interview in Serbia, Motley described the coaching styles of Red Star's coach, Dimitris Itoudis, and Hapoel's former coach, Ivan Navarro, as "night and day." He explained that Itoudis is a methodical coach who emphasizes patience and exploiting favorable matchups, whereas Navarro had a different approach.

Motley believes that the ability to make in-game decisions is crucial for reaching the Final Four of the EuroLeague, highlighting this as a key distinction between the two teams. He also noted that Red Star plays a very fast-paced style, though he acknowledged they are currently turning the ball over too much. He expressed confidence that better decision-making will lead to more scoring opportunities and improved shooting percentages. The EuroLeague season is set to begin later this week.
