Fires Erupt in Jerusalem Shops After Israeli Forces Deploy Tear Gas
Israeli forces caused fires to break out in commercial shops in the village of Sur Bahir, east of occupied Jerusalem, on Sunday evening. Clashes erupted at the village entrance, during which Israeli forces fired sound and tear gas canisters.
The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the canisters launched by Israeli soldiers led to the ignition of several commercial shops in the area. Videos circulating online showed flames engulfing multiple stores.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, under heavy police guard, entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Governorate stated that Ben-Gvir performed Talmudic rituals in the eastern section of the mosque.
Israeli forces reportedly turned the Old City into a "military barracks" to facilitate settler access to the Western Wall, according to the Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate. Additionally, Israeli forces blocked the entrances to the village of Umm Tuba in occupied Jerusalem with concrete blocks, ahead of the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
