Palestinian Prisoner Groups Blame Israel for Detainee Bushra Al-Taweel's Fate

Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups have declared the Israeli authorities fully responsible for the fate of administrative detainee Bushra Al-Taweel, 33, from Al-Bireh. Al-Taweel has been held in solitary confinement at Nevo Prison for approximately one month, after being transferred from solitary confinement at Damon Prison. The groups stated that Al-Taweel's case is part of a broader escalation of measures against female prisoners, which they described as systematic solitary confinement, repression, medical neglect, and the spread of disease, deeming these practices a form of torture.

Al-Taweel was moved from solitary confinement at Damon Prison to solitary cells at Nevo Prison, where she has spent about a month in isolation. The organizations expressed deep concern for her well-being and demanded that Israeli authorities take full responsibility for her conditions during this period of administrative detention. These demands come as the groups are focusing on the detention conditions of female prisoners, particularly those subjected to prolonged solitary confinement.

The prisoner groups warned that Al-Taweel's situation is not isolated but reflects a wider pattern of actions against female detainees. They cited practices including systematic isolation, repression, medical negligence, and the outbreak of diseases among prisoners, asserting that these conditions have become a tool of torture. The organizations reiterated their holding of Israeli authorities fully responsible for Al-Taweel's fate amid her continued solitary confinement at Nevo Prison.
