Vietnam Stadium Project Nears Completion, Set to Become World's Largest

Vietnam is closely monitoring the construction of the "Truong-Dong" stadium, a massive project initiated in December, which is slated to become the largest stadium globally upon completion. The stadium is designed to accommodate 135,000 spectators. Recent updates indicate the construction is significantly advanced, with the erection of massive support pillars and lifting towers, nearly 80 meters high, now underway. These towers will be integrated with a hydraulic system to lift and position hundreds of tons of steel arch modules for the stadium's dome.

The structural framework of the stadium is expected to be finished by December. Following this, work will commence on installing the dome, electro-mechanical systems, and the playing field. The project also includes a retractable roof, scheduled for installation by May 2027. The entire stadium is now anticipated to be completed by July 2027, over a year ahead of its original August 2028 deadline.

Once finished, the Truong-Dong stadium will surpass India's Narendra Modi Stadium and North Korea's May Day Stadium to become the world's largest. For comparison, its capacity is approximately 4.5 times that of Israel's Sammy Ofer or Teddy Stadium.

The stadium's design draws inspiration from Vietnam's ancient bronze drums, a significant cultural symbol. It incorporates futuristic technology, including the world's largest retractable roof for all-weather play, a movable grass pitch that can be moved outdoors for maintenance and sun exposure within 6 to 10 hours, and advanced crowd management and communication systems integrated into the structure.
