Rod Stewart, 81, had a scare during a concert in Utah over the weekend when he felt unwell, nearly lost consciousness, and had to stop performing. Crew members brought him oxygen backstage, and video shared online showed him bending over and appearing exhausted before the intervention.
After receiving help from the oxygen tank, the British singer returned to the audience, told fans he had almost fainted, and kept his trademark humor with a few jokes. He then completed the rest of the show while seated on a chair.
The episode comes after several weeks of health-related disruptions to Stewart’s schedule. Earlier this month, he said some Las Vegas shows were postponed on doctors’ orders while he recovered from influenza. He later canceled four more performances and delayed two others because of a severe upper respiratory infection that also caused inflammation of his vocal cords.
Despite the latest incident, Stewart is still scheduled to continue his “One Last Time” tour across the United States in the coming months. His final show is currently set for mid-August in St. Louis. No official comment from Stewart or his representatives has been released about the incident.
