British singer Rod Stewart, 81, stopped his concert in Utah last weekend after nearly fainting onstage. The show took place at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, and Stewart was seen unwell and used an oxygen tank backstage to help him breathe, according to TMZ.
At the start of the month, Stewart said he had the flu and that several Las Vegas shows would be postponed because his doctor had ordered “a little more rest” while he recovered. Less than a week later, he canceled four performances and pushed back two more dates in Nevada and California, all part of his One Last Time Tour.
On Instagram, Stewart wrote, “So sorry, my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and see you soon,” adding a broken heart emoji. His team also said that, on doctors’ advice and after a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that led to laryngitis, he was unable to perform, even though he had already arrived at the venue.
Stewart also drew criticism after announcing he would cancel a California show for health reasons and then appearing at Scotland’s World Cup match in Boston hours later.
