North Korea Showcases New Drones Resembling Israeli Models

North Korea is continuing to advance its drone program, with leader Kim Jong Un recently visiting a factory engaged in the mass production of combat drones. State media released images from the facility, which manufactures various types of unmanned aerial vehicles. The photographs reveal dozens of drones with delta-shaped wings, some of which bear a striking resemblance to Israel's Harop loitering munition.

While Pyongyang has not officially confirmed copying specific foreign models, North Korea first displayed drones of this design in August 2024. Subsequently, North Korean media reported on tests of tactical strike drones from the "Kumsong" series. Kim Jong Un has previously identified the development of drone aviation and artificial intelligence as key areas for modernizing the armed forces.

The country has also previously showcased a mobile launcher capable of carrying and deploying up to six loitering munitions. During his recent visit to defense facilities, Kim Jong Un urged the accelerated integration of artificial intelligence into the military sector. He also emphasized improving artillery systems by increasing automation and enhancing their armor protection.

This development follows a recent warning from North Korea to Japan. Kim Jong Un's sister had threatened a "crushing blow" to Japan in response to Tokyo's new militarization policy, stating that any attempt at military expansion would result in severe retaliation.
