Israeli Eurovision Star Declines Pussycat Dolls Stage Offer Due to Yom Kippur

Michael Ben David, Israel's former Eurovision representative, was recently offered a significant international opportunity to perform alongside the renowned girl group The Pussycat Dolls. The invitation arose after a video of Ben David at a Pussycat Dolls concert in Warsaw went viral, garnering over two million views. Nicole Scherzinger, the group's lead singer, saw the video and expressed her admiration for Ben David's energy, commenting, "I'm obsessed with you! You have to get on stage with us on tour!".

This initial reaction quickly escalated into a formal invitation from the show's production team. Ben David was first asked to join the group on stage for their performance in Paris, but he was unable to accept due to prior commitments to the musical "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" in Israel. A second offer came for the band's show in Zurich.

However, this opportunity also presented a conflict. The Zurich performance was scheduled to begin shortly after the conclusion of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. Participating would have required Ben David to travel and rehearse during the solemn day itself. Citing the sanctity of Yom Kippur, Ben David ultimately decided to decline the prestigious offer, choosing not to fly or perform during the holiday.
