Maccabi Hadera Wins Gadi Abramovitz Memorial Volleyball Tournament

Maccabi Hadera has won the third annual "Guri" women's volleyball tournament, defeating Hapoel Kfar Saba 2-1 in a close final match. The deciding set score was 15-12.

The tournament, held in memory of Gadi Abramovitz, who passed away two years and three months ago, honored his significant contributions to sports, particularly volleyball. The ceremony, attended by sports figures, players, family members, and hundreds of fans at the Kfar Saba hall bearing his name, highlighted Abramovitz's vision that transformed Hapoel Kfar Saba into a leading club focused on youth development and making sports accessible to all children and teenagers. Abramovitz believed sports were a way of life and a means of educating in values, during which time Hapoel Kfar Saba secured seven league championships and seven state cups.

M.S. Ramat Aviv finished in third place, defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0. Maccabi Hadera showcased a talented team with three foreign players, while Kfar Saba, under new coach Itay Bacherach, fielded a young and ambitious squad featuring promising young players alongside veteran captain Galit Dvash and one foreign player, Brazilian middle blocker Tamira Silva de Melo.

Gadi Abramovitz's widow, Ofra Abramovitz, spoke about her husband's legacy, emphasizing his belief in leaving a lasting impact and contributing to others' well-being. She noted that while he is no longer present, his influence continues to grow and benefit others.

Galit Dvash, Hapoel Kfar Saba's captain, credited Gadi Abramovitz with saving the club from dissolution 17 years ago, transforming it into a successful club and a community. She stated that Abramovitz worked to ensure the senior teams competed for titles while simultaneously establishing a successful youth department with over a thousand players.
