Maccabi Tel Aviv Midfielder Varela Injured in Match
Maccabi Tel Aviv defender Moussa Wagué suffered an injury during the team's match against Maccabi Netanya on Saturday, being substituted out in the 17th minute. The severity of his injury is currently unknown, with Idan Shachar coming on to replace him. This marks the first time Wagué has been substituted due to injury this season.
Adding to the team's woes, defender Mohammed Ali-Kammara was also injured during the warm-up and was removed from the starting lineup. Tyris Asante will start in his place at center-back, making his first start for Maccabi Tel Aviv this season. Asante has previously appeared as a substitute in several games and played primarily as a right-back last season, but is expected to play center-back with James Tavernier at right-back.
Kammara had played in all four previous league matches this season, completing 90 minutes in three of them and coming on as a substitute in the other. The team has not yet provided details on the extent of either player's injury.
