Daniel Peretz's Southampton Suffers Dramatic Late Loss to Wrexham

Southampton, featuring Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, experienced a frustrating 2-1 defeat against Wrexham in the Championship on Saturday. The Saints had aimed for a third consecutive victory but were undone by a late own goal.

Wrexham took the lead in the 36th minute through a header from Paul Mullin, despite a strong save from Peretz that initially pushed the ball to a corner. Southampton equalized in the 50th minute with a goal from James Ward-Prowse, marking his first since returning to the club.

Peretz was nearly caught out in the 55th minute by a bizarre long-range attempt, but he managed to recover and push the ball onto the crossbar, preventing Mullin from scoring a second.

However, in the 89th minute, Southampton defender Janik Bachmann inadvertently scored an own goal, deflecting the ball into his own net after a defensive scramble, handing Wrexham the dramatic win. Southampton's attempts to find a late equalizer were unsuccessful.

Both Southampton and Wrexham now sit with 10 points in the league standings following the match.
