Daniel Peretz's Southampton Suffers Late Defeat to Wrexham

Southampton, with Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz in net, experienced a frustrating 2-1 loss to Wrexham on Saturday in the English Championship. The Saints, aiming to climb the league table after two consecutive wins, were unable to capitalize on their dominance throughout much of the match. They conceded a late own goal in the 89th minute, marking their second defeat of the season and first since the opening matchday.

Peretz, who has yet to keep a clean sheet this season, was involved in the decisive own goal scored by Wrexham's Kevin Scholzterbeck, failing to intercept a cross. Earlier in the 36th minute, he conceded a header from Paul Mullin following a corner kick, which came after a strong save by Peretz. Mullin also nearly scored from midfield, but his shot hit the crossbar.

Southampton currently sits in 13th place with 10 points after eight games, having had four points deducted earlier due to a past spying scandal. Wrexham also has 10 points after this, their second win of the season. Swansea leads the league with 17 points, ahead of West Ham and Manor Solomon, who have 15 points after a 2-2 draw.

Peretz is expected to join the Israeli national team squad for upcoming Nations League matches. The match saw Southampton control possession for large parts, with chances created by Finn Azaz and Kyle Lafferty, but they were ultimately undone by Wrexham's efficiency in front of goal.
