Israel Shells Syrian Town After Border Incursion, Shepherd Arrest
The Israeli military shelled the outskirts of the town of Beit Jinn in Syria's Rif Dimashq Governorate on Friday, following an incursion into the Daraa Governorate. Syrian state media reported that Israeli forces carried out artillery shelling on the western outskirts of Beit Jinn, but did not specify any casualties or damage.
Earlier on Friday, Syrian media also reported that an Israeli force had entered the Wadi al-Raqqad area in Daraa Governorate with nine military vehicles and arrested a shepherd. Wadi al-Raqqad is located in the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa.
Syria has previously called for an end to Israeli violations of its territory. The Syrian government has not yet issued an official statement regarding Friday's events. Israel has conducted frequent incursions into southern Syria since the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, after which Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and occupied Syrian buffer zones and other sites.
