Israel Shells Syrian Territories Near Quneitra and Damascus

Israeli artillery shells struck areas in the Quneitra and Damascus countrysides on Saturday evening, according to Syrian state media. Syrian state news agency SANA reported that "occupation forces" fired six artillery shells on the outskirts of the town of Al-Rafid in southern Quneitra, and also targeted the vicinity of Tel Bat al-Wardah, near the town of Beit Jin in western Damascus.

Syrian state television "Al-Ikhbariya" confirmed the shelling of Al-Rafid's outskirts but provided no details on casualties or damage. SANA's correspondent in Quneitra stated that the shells fell on agricultural land, followed by gunfire from Israeli forces stationed at Tel al-Jum'a in the occupied Syrian Golan. No information was available regarding injuries.

Earlier on Saturday, an Israeli force of five military vehicles entered the outskirts of Al-Rafid before withdrawing without making any arrests. SANA also reported that Israeli forces shelled the area around Tel Bat al-Wardah, near Beit Jin, without mentioning any casualties.

These incidents follow a previous Israeli shelling of the eastern Tel al-Ahmar area in southern Quneitra with two artillery shells on Thursday. On Tuesday, a shepherd was arrested west of Al-Rafid but released hours later, according to SANA.

Southern Syria, particularly the Quneitra and Daraa provinces, experiences near-daily Israeli incursions and attacks, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints.
