Israel's Beloved Singer Yardenna Arzi Celebrates 75th Birthday With Naming of Zebra
The Safari Park in Ramat Gan, Israel, has named a young zebra "Yardenna" in honor of the beloved Israeli singer Yardenna Arzi's 75th birthday. The zebra, born on July 19, will now carry the singer's name as a unique tribute.
The surprise was revealed during Arzi's weekly radio show on Kan News, where she co-hosts with former "Choco Menta Mastik" bandmates Ruti Holtzman and Lea Lupatin. Holtzman and Lupatin informed Arzi of the special gift prepared for her by the safari park.
The decision to name the zebra "Yardenna" stems from the singer's long-standing connection to the park. Arzi has been a frequent visitor and subscriber for years, known for her deep affection for animals and close observation of the park's activities. "The choice of the name 'Yardenna' is especially moving," said Hila Feldman Gra, spokesperson for the Safari Park. "Yardenna has known and loved the Safari Park for years, follows the animals and what happens here, so it was natural and joyful for us to mark her birthday with a tribute that will remain with us for many years to come."
Arzi expressed her deep emotion upon hearing the news, recalling a past amusing encounter with a zebra at the park. She recounted feeding a zebra an avocado, only to be nipped when the fruit was small, leading her to learn not to feed the animals. "This is a very heartwarming and moving gift. I definitely intend to come and meet the zebra Yardenna face to face soon," Arzi stated.
The young zebra is part of the safari park's herd of approximately 140 zebras and is growing up with its mother and other herd members in the open African enclosure. This unique birthday gift ensures a lasting connection between the singer and the park.
