National Security Minister Ben-Gvir Claims Netanyahu Ignores His Calls

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir revealed in a recent podcast interview that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not been responding to his phone calls for the past few weeks. Ben-Gvir made the disclosure during an interview with Miki Levin for the "Maariv" podcast ahead of Yom Kippur.

When asked if he believed Netanyahu intended to form a coalition with Benny Gantz, Ben-Gvir responded affirmatively, citing Netanyahu's past political decisions in 2009 and 2013 where he allied with figures like Ehud Barak, leaving other parties aside. Ben-Gvir also addressed a video critical of Netanyahu, stating that while he respects the Prime Minister and learns from him, he felt personally slighted and hurt by the situation, especially given their previously strong relationship.

"Our relationship in the last two years was very good, and suddenly it stopped," Ben-Gvir admitted. He explained that despite Netanyahu's refusal to be photographed with him, he prioritizes national interests such as judicial appointments and Supreme Court judge nominations over personal honor. Ben-Gvir expressed his difficulty with the abrupt cessation of their previously close contact, reiterating that Netanyahu has been largely unresponsive to his calls.

Political commentator Amit Segal commented on the situation, suggesting that this dynamic might be a strategy to undermine Netanyahu. Ben-Gvir emphasized his deep respect for Netanyahu as the Prime Minister of Israel, but his personal feelings of being hurt and angered by the perceived snub are evident.
