Ben-Gvir Complains Netanyahu Ignores His Calls Amid Political Tensions

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has stated that his relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has changed significantly in recent weeks, with Netanyahu reportedly no longer responding to his phone calls. Ben-Gvir described their past relationship as very close, noting they spent considerable time together, particularly on Fridays, over the last two and a half years.

Ben-Gvir suggested that Netanyahu might be influenced by his advisors, who he believes are urging the prime minister to distance himself from Ben-Gvir due to concerns about negative political repercussions. He also speculated that Netanyahu's own political calculations, possibly involving forming a broad coalition after elections that might exclude Ben-Gvir's party, Otzma Yehudit, could be a factor.

This follows Ben-Gvir's public statements last month, including videos, accusing Netanyahu of avoiding joint photos and boycotting him. While admitting the situation is personally upsetting and infuriating, Ben-Gvir emphasized that his primary concern is not personal grievances but the necessity of working with Netanyahu to address important national issues.

Despite the strained relationship, Ben-Gvir affirmed his respect for Netanyahu as the head of government and his desire to maintain a working relationship, prioritizing political matters over personal feelings. When asked about attempts to contact Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir reiterated that the prime minister has been unresponsive to his calls in recent weeks.
