New Ritual Bath Opens in Kiryat Ye'arim to Serve Growing Community

A new, elaborate ritual bath (mikveh) was inaugurated in Kiryat Ye'arim during a festive ceremony. The mikveh, built adjacent to the Sephardic Yeshiva institutions led by Rabbi David Ben Amram on Dagan Street, is intended to meet the growing needs of the local population for ritual purity.

This new facility joins the town's existing mikveh, which has been in use for over 50 years, providing an additional option for residents. The construction and design adhere to the halachic (Jewish legal) requirements as determined by the local rabbinical authority.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the local rabbinical judge (Moreh D'atra), yeshiva deans, local rabbis, and community rabbis. Public officials present included former Minister for Religious Services, MK Michael Malchieli, MK Yosef Tayeb, Director-General of the Ministry for Religious Services Yehuda Avidan, Head of the Local Council Yitzhak Ravitz, and notable philanthropist Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, alongside community representatives and residents.

Speakers emphasized the significance of the new mikveh for Kiryat Ye'arim, highlighting the need to provide adequate facilities for the expanding community. They noted the auspicious timing of the opening, occurring just before a holy day, to enhance purity and holiness.

Rabbi David Ben Amram concluded the event by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to establish such a beautifully appointed place of ritual purity.
