Israeli Passport Ranks 40th Globally in Travel Freedom
The Israeli passport has been ranked 40th globally in the latest "Passport Index" report, published in September. The report, which covers passports from 199 countries, indicates that the Israeli passport allows access to 77.3% of the world's destinations. This mobility score of 153 includes 104 visa-free destinations, 39 requiring a visa on arrival or facilitated entry, and 10 accessible via an electronic travel authorization (ETA). Visas are required for entry into 45 destinations.
Regionally, the Israeli passport ranks eighth out of 50 in Asia and third out of 17 in the Middle East. Europe offers 100% access, with 46 visa-free destinations and the UK accessible via ETA. North America follows with 95.7% access, Oceania with 92.9%, the Caribbean with 87.5%, and South America with 83.3%.
Asia offers 53.1% access, comprising 16 visa-free destinations, nine with visa-on-arrival or facilitated entry, and one via ETA, while 23 destinations require a visa. The Middle East offers 31.3% access, with the UAE, Palestinian Authority, Cyprus, and Turkey listed as visa-free, Jordan as facilitated entry, and 11 destinations requiring a visa. Gulf countries offer 16.7% access, with only the UAE being visa-free.
Africa provides 66.7% access, with nine visa-free destinations, 23 requiring visa-on-arrival or facilitated entry, and four accessible via ETA. The report also details entry procedures and stay durations, noting that some "facilitated entry" categories include electronic visas. For instance, Georgia allows up to 360 days visa-free, while the UK and Canada permit 180 days via ETA.
Regarding reciprocal entry, the report highlights Australia as the only country where Israelis need a visa while Australians do not require one for Israel. Conversely, 53 countries require visas for Israelis, while Israelis can enter them visa-free, via ETA, or facilitated entry. Israel ranks 82nd out of 199 countries in terms of foreign passport acceptance.
