Singapore Tops Global Passport Index, US Falls to 10th

Singapore has maintained its top position in the Henley Passport Index for the third consecutive year, offering its citizens the most freedom in international travel. Japan and South Korea share the second spot, with their citizens able to access 188 destinations visa-free or with simplified entry. Five European nations, Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland, are tied for third place, granting access to 186 destinations. The United Arab Emirates has made a significant leap, securing a spot in the top ten after increasing its visa-free destinations by nearly 150 since 2006. The United States has seen a notable decline, falling to tenth place with access to 179 destinations. Experts attribute this drop to stricter U.S. visa policies and reciprocal measures from other countries. Afghanistan ranks last, with its citizens able to travel to only 24 destinations without a visa. The index evaluates 199 passports against 227 travel destinations worldwide. Notably, Israel was not mentioned in the rankings.
