Mughar al-Kharrub Mayor Hopes Settlers Won't Return to 'al-Rus' Area

The head of the local council in Mughar al-Kharrub, Salim Salibi, expressed his hope that settlers who established an outpost in the "al-Rus" area will not return. His statement followed the evacuation of the site just one day prior. The Mughar al-Kharrub council and its popular committee declared the outpost's removal a success achieved through "the unity and solidarity of the residents."

Salibi told Panet news site and Hala TV that the issue is not over, stating, "We know they came to the place for a political purpose, with the support of their political leadership." He affirmed that residents will remain vigilant, recounting an attempt by settlers, accompanied by a Knesset member from Itamar Ben-Gvir's party, to return on Thursday morning in what he described as a provocation.

He added that after a five-day struggle involving the youth of Mughar al-Kharrub, they are monitoring the situation. Salibi thanked the Arab public, neighboring towns, and Jewish community members who offered support. He concluded by hoping the settlers' departure is permanent from their lands.
