Israel's Animal Shelters Feature Dozens of Pets Seeking Homes

As the High Holidays approach, Israeli animal shelters are highlighting numerous dogs and cats available for adoption, urging the public to consider opening their homes to a new companion. Organizations like "Rishon Loves Animals," "Chaver Li Lady," "HaChayot Ve'anachnu," and "Kfar Saba Ve'Ra'anana Loves Animals" are showcasing a variety of animals, from playful kittens and puppies to older, calmer pets.

Among the featured animals are Businka, a gentle 8-year-old cat with a slight leg disability; Sofgi, a friendly ginger cat; Green, a large, sociable mixed-breed dog whose siblings have already been adopted; and Lady, a 3.5-year-old mixed-breed dog with a difficult past who is slowly learning to trust. Other dogs include Eshel, a 6-month-old mixed breed, and Yuval, a 1.5-year-old shepherd mix rescued after being hit by a train.

The "HaChayot Ve'anachnu" shelter near Afula is presenting Um, a 5-month-old mixed-breed puppy, and Nir, a 4-month-old shepherd mix, along with Mickey, a 6-month-old kitten. "Kfar Saba Ve'Ra'anana Loves Animals" is featuring Lucas, Leo, and Knaidel, all young dogs. The "Tnu Lachayot Lichyot" organization is highlighting Dilly, a 10-month-old cat recovering from injury, Daniel, a shy 2-year-old cat with one eye, and Shuli, a 5-year-old dog seeking a stable home.

Additional shelters like "Gilboa Loves Animals," "Ashdod Municipal Kennel," "Chaim Chadashim Le'cholavim," "ChavlaLove," "Gilboa Kennel," "S.O.S. Chayot," and "Tza'ar Ba'alei Chayim Ramat Gan" are also participating in adoption drives. These organizations collectively house approximately 150 dogs and dozens of cats, many of whom are puppies and kittens. Adoption events are scheduled throughout the week, with specific weekend hours, and potential adopters are encouraged to visit the shelters' social media pages and websites for more information.

Many of the animals have unique stories, including those rescued from difficult circumstances, abandoned, or found injured. Shelters emphasize the importance of patient and experienced adopters, especially for animals with past trauma, and often require all family members to be present during the adoption process. Adoption fees typically include vaccinations and spaying/neutering.
