Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Team Faces Injury Concerns Ahead of EuroLeague Opener
Maccabi Tel Aviv secured their second Social Super Cup title with a victory in a prestigious derby match on Thursday. However, three key players, Ousmane Dieng, Jaron Blossomgame, and Daniel Theis, were sidelined due to injuries and did not participate in the game. Blossomgame sustained a blow to his knee during a preparation match against Aris Thessaloniki. Theis is recovering from a minor ankle injury sustained during a recent national team game with Germany. Blossomgame suffered a thigh muscle tear after slipping during the team's training camp in Israel.
The club is making a concerted effort to have all three players fully fit for the upcoming EuroLeague season opener against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne next week. Medical and coaching staff opted not to risk the players' health in the derby. All three players have resumed full training and are expected to be available for the coach in the next game.
The team is scheduled to travel to France on Wednesday for their first European league game of the season against ASVEL.
