Maccabi Rishon LeZion Advances in European Handball Cup

Maccabi Rishon LeZion's handball team has advanced to the second round of the European Cup after defeating Italian side Follonica in the second leg of their tie. The Israeli team secured a 32-25 victory in Italy on Thursday, following a dramatic 34-34 draw in the first leg played in Israel.

Maccabi Rishon LeZion displayed a more consistent performance in the return match. Key players Yermi Sidi, with 10 goals, and Lidor Pasu, with 8 goals, were instrumental in building and maintaining their lead throughout the game. The team established an early advantage, leading 10-7 in the ninth minute and finishing the first half with a 15-13 lead.

In the second half, Maccabi Rishon LeZion extended their lead to 18-13 and continued to control the game, reaching a 23-18 advantage by the 45th minute. Goals from Eden Ginji, Dan Tepper, and others sealed the 32-25 win, securing their progression to the next stage.

Maccabi Rishon LeZion becomes the third Israeli representative to reach the next round of the competition, joining M.K. Holon and A.S. Ramat Hasharon. The draw for the next round is scheduled for the following Tuesday. Goalkeeper Dan Tepper made 11 saves, contributing significantly to the team's defense.
