Trump's remarks come ahead of a planned meeting with leaders from six Gulf nations, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, during the UN General Assembly in New York. This meeting could shape the future direction of the conflict, potentially influencing whether diplomacy or intensified military action will be pursued. Trump indicated he wants to hear directly from these allies about the next steps, stating, "I want to know their positions and their situations. We have been very careful to protect them."
