Israeli Reserve Unit Secures Prayer Site Inside Lebanon, IDF Investigates

An Israeli reserve unit reportedly secured a religious prayer service within Lebanese territory, near the border, in an incident that has prompted an investigation by the Israeli military. The unit, part of the 4th Reserve Brigade, allegedly organized a "Slichot (penitential prayers)" service at a site claimed to be a rabbi's tomb within an Israeli military position, but located on the Lebanese side of the border and under Israeli control.

The Israeli army's radio reported that the visit to the shrine for "Slichot" prayers, held ahead of the Hebrew New Year, was not approved by the relevant authorities and bypassed standard procedures, constituting a violation of orders. In response, the Israeli military stated that an investigation would be conducted and procedures would be tightened.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the total number of casualties from Israeli aggression since October 8, 2023, has risen to 8,953 killed and 30,643 wounded. A significant portion of these casualties, 4,386 killed and 12,407 injured, occurred between March 2 and September 17.

Separately, Israeli forces conducted airstrikes and shelling in southern Lebanon. The town of Al-Mansouri was targeted by two consecutive Israeli airstrikes, followed by large explosions in two phases attributed to the Israeli army, which were heard in the city of Tyre and surrounding villages. Intermittent artillery shelling also targeted the Ali Al-Taher heights near Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, continuing a pattern of Israeli incursions.
