Nazareth Parents Protest as 17 Children Barred From School

Dozens of parents and their children protested in the Bilal neighborhood of Nazareth on Thursday, demanding school seats for 17 children who have been unable to enroll since the start of the academic year. Parents stated that their children were registered at Al-Qastal school, near their homes, without issue, only to be denied entry when classes began.

The core of the problem, according to parents, is an administrative dispute. They were informed that their children's files are linked to the Reyna local council, not the Nazareth municipality, despite the children residing in the Bilal neighborhood and receiving services from Nazareth. This bureaucratic hurdle has prevented the children from starting their education.

Parents are calling for an immediate resolution to this administrative issue, allowing their children to return to school. They emphasized that Al-Qastal school is conveniently located near their residences.

The prolonged exclusion from school is causing psychological distress to the children as they see their peers attending classes. The protest aims to draw attention to the plight of these 17 children and urge a swift solution to end their time out of school.

The parents' primary demand is urgent intervention to resolve the administrative dependency issue, enabling their children to attend school. They hope the protest will lead to a quick solution, given the children's residency and proximity to the school.
