Man Indicted for Severely Wounding Fellow Resident on Way to Prayers

Northern District prosecutors have filed an indictment against a 39-year-old Afula resident, charging him with causing grievous bodily harm and obstruction of justice. The charges stem from a stabbing incident on August 25th where a 66-year-old man was critically injured.

The victim was on his way to Selichot prayers and the morning service at a synagogue in Afula when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times. He was evacuated to Ha'emek Hospital in serious condition.

Following the report, police and forensic investigators secured the scene, collecting evidence to identify the assailant. Initially, the motive for the attack was unclear, and investigators explored all possibilities.

Two days later, on August 27th, police apprehended the suspect, a 39-year-old Afula resident. His detention was extended periodically as investigators gathered evidence. The indictment was filed at the court in Naveh Galil.
