El Al Jet Makes Risky Approach, Lands on Second Try

An El Al Boeing 777-200 aircraft experienced a significant deviation from its intended landing path during a flight from Paris to Tel Aviv on September 7. The flight, LY324, was approximately 1.85 kilometers (1.15 miles) off the planned runway centerline while descending towards Ben Gurion Airport.

According to international aviation reports, the aircraft continued its descent to an altitude of about 600 feet (183 meters) above the ground, despite the misalignment. At this point, the flight crew decided to abort the landing attempt and initiated a go-around, climbing back to altitude and maneuvering away from the runway area.

Approximately 20 minutes later, the aircraft successfully landed at Ben Gurion Airport on its second attempt. The specific reasons for the initial deviation from the landing axis remain unclear, although flight tracking data confirms the aircraft's path and subsequent correction.

El Al conducted an internal investigation into the incident. The airline concluded that there was no safety event, stating that the pilots followed standard procedures by executing a go-around when they identified that the aircraft was outside the safe landing parameters. The flight subsequently landed normally.
