Kamala Harris to Appear With Anti-Israel Senate Candidate

Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to appear at a campaign event for Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan next week, according to an announcement confirmed by Harris's team to NBC. El-Sayed, a physician and son of Egyptian immigrants, is running in a highly competitive race for a Senate seat and has taken extreme anti-Israel stances, including refusing to recognize Israel's right to exist and calling Israel's military actions in Gaza a "genocide." He has also described the Israeli government as "evil."

The support from Harris, considered a potential presidential contender in 2028, highlights a significant shift in the Democratic Party's position on Israel among both voters and leaders. Harris's spokesperson stated that the appearance is part of an effort to "flip the Senate" and address issues like lowering prices and confronting Donald Trump's "corruption."

El-Sayed previously expressed support for Harris in August after winning the Democratic primary against U.S. Representative Haley Stevens, a strong supporter of Israel. El-Sayed stated he was "excited" to campaign with Harris. He has also faced criticism for receiving support from controversial streamer Hasan Piker.

On the opposing side, Republican Vice President J.D. Vance has called El-Sayed "evil." El-Sayed is challenging former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers in Michigan, with the race intensifying in recent weeks. El-Sayed has characterized Rogers as a "corrupt coward" solely focused on personal gain and donor interests.
