Police and Border Police operated at Paris Square in Jerusalem after protesters used amplified sound equipment in violation of police conditions and the arrangements that had been upheld by the High Court of Justice. According to the police, the equipment was played at high volume near residential homes before the Sabbath.
When the protesters refused to stop using the equipment, officers confiscated it. Police said they have the authority to set conditions for demonstrations and that the protesters breached the agreed terms.
The incident took place in Jerusalem, at a protest site that has been the subject of prior legal and police restrictions. The seizure was presented as enforcement of those rules, not a broader ban on protest activity.
