News Anchor Suggests Benny Gantz is Opposition's Best Hope Against Netanyahu

Channel 12 news anchor Sivan Cohen suggested on Thursday that opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot should consider partnering with Benny Gantz as a strategy to disrupt Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's political standing. Speaking on 103fm radio, Cohen stated that Gantz represents a readily available "cure" for the opposition's current struggles in opinion polls, a solution Eisenkot "knows well." She proposed that Eisenkot should "pick up the phone" and arrange a collaboration with Gantz, asserting that such a move would "shuffle the cards" and create "no small headache" for Netanyahu and his campaign team, who she described as currently operating against an "empty goal."

This suggestion comes in the wake of Eisenkot's firm rejection of a rotation government or a premiership rotation, which he reiterated in an interview with Kan Bet earlier on Thursday. Eisenkot stated that the elected prime minister should serve a full four-year term to effectively implement their agenda. He emphasized that his opposition to rotation is a long-standing, principled stance, not merely a tactical political position. "Rotation is not on the table," Eisenkot declared, adding that he has "opposed this whole patent of an alternative prime minister" and "rotation" dozens of times in the past. He explained that a prime minister needs a complete term to realize their policies and advance both domestic and regional initiatives.
