Tel Aviv Woman Says Stranger Assaulted Her on the Way to Work, Suspected in Another Attack

By אביבית מיסניקוב

The story · English

A Tel Aviv resident says she was violently attacked in broad daylight on Thursday morning while walking to work, when a stranger ran up to her and shoved her hard to the ground. The woman, identified as A., said the assault happened “in a split second,” leaving her stunned on the pavement until a coworker came to help. Police have opened an investigation into the incident and the suspect’s identity.

A. told N12 that she was walking to work when “a strange man came toward me and attacked me brutally.” She said he struck her with a forceful shoulder charge that knocked her down, and that she remained helpless and shocked as he continued walking away. “I do not remember anything. I was in complete shock, and so was the person who helped me,” she said. She added, “You can see in the second video that the guy is not exactly sane.”

After the assault, a passerby assisted her, and friends later helped locate security camera footage from the area. According to A., the footage clearly shows what happened. Her friends posted the videos in a neighborhood Facebook group in an effort to identify the attacker, and residents then contacted them with what they said was information about the man.

A. then filed a police complaint and passed on the material that had been collected. She also said that after the footage was shared online, people contacted her with reports of another similar incident involving a different woman in the area. “From what was told to me, she was also attacked by the same person,” A. said. “She intends to file a police complaint.”
