Liberman Criticizes Lapid's Election Strategy, Calls for Unity

Avigdor Liberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, urged his partners in the "change bloc" to alter their election strategy and focus on collective victory rather than internal competition for the top spot. Speaking on 103FM radio, Liberman criticized the previous election's approach, stating, "Yair Lapid was the sole candidate for the opposition, he achieved a success for Yesh Atid, and since then we have been eating gravel and bitterness." He emphasized that party leaders should cease internal rivalries and instead aim for a unified win.

Liberman also expressed skepticism about the viability of new parties emerging for the upcoming elections, labeling them "atmosphere parties" that appear quickly but lack long-term political stability. When asked if this included Ofer Winter's party, Liberman broadly stated that all new parties, not just Winter's, fall into this category, recalling how "all sorts of stars" from previous elections quickly disappeared.

This commentary comes as Liberman attempts to steer the election campaign towards a bloc-based strategy. He has previously advocated for preventing vote wastage by smaller lists and opposed the automatic assumption that the largest party in the bloc would produce the agreed-upon prime ministerial candidate.
