According to Saudi outlet Al-Hadath, Washington's decision stems from previous explanations by a US diplomat under the Trump administration, which stated that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority must be held accountable for failing to meet their commitments under the Oslo Accords and for undermining peace prospects.
While the UN Headquarters Agreement generally obligates the US to allow foreign diplomats access to UN headquarters, Washington maintains its right to deny visas based on security, terrorism, extremism, or foreign policy considerations.
