Meni Assayag Claims Channel 13 Offered Him Millions

Screenwriter Meni Assayag, a creator of the TV series "Shנות ה-80" (The 80s), recently claimed that the Israeli television network Channel 13 offered him millions of shekels to continue creating series for them. Assayag made this statement on social media in response to a dispute with social activist Moshe Radman.

Radman had criticized Assayag for questioning why social activist Lior Shlein was giving lectures to pre-military academy students. Radman retorted, "Who did you expect them to invite, you? You idiot."

Assayag fired back, suggesting Radman should focus on supporting draft resisters. He then contrasted Shlein's situation with his own, stating, "It's clear that left-wing academies would invite him to brainwash the youth, but the fact is that the franchisee Reshet asked me to stay and create series for millions, and this guy [Shlein] they paid millions just to leave. Understand?"

Assayag also mentioned that six years after leaving his writing role for "The 80s," he continues to receive significant royalties from the show, which is still broadcast frequently in Israel and abroad. He contrasted his success with that of other screenwriters, asserting his achievements are unparalleled.
