The latest season of the Israeli television series "Fauda" has achieved significant popularity in Arab countries, entering Netflix's top ten in several nations following its September 8 release. The show secured the fourth spot in Jordan and Qatar, fifth in Bahrain and the UAE, seventh in Oman, and ninth in Kuwait. The fifth season, comprising 11 episodes, centers on the return of protagonist Doron Kavillio, portrayed by Lior Raz, to his counter-terrorism unit after the events of October 7, 2023. The new episodes delve into themes of psychological trauma, loss, and a complex operation in Marseille.
Experts suggest the show's success in Lebanon and other regional countries does not indicate political rapprochement. Jacques Neria, a former Israeli intelligence operative, believes viewers are drawn to the high production quality and a desire to understand the adversary's actions. Journalist Maya Khadra added that "Fauda" highlights the characters' human experiences, allowing audiences to connect with collective trauma beyond political narratives.
