Israeli Court Orders Release of Arab Party Co-Leader Detained During Protest

A Magistrate's Court in Acre ordered the release of Alon-Lee Green, co-chair of the Arab political party "All for One" (Likud Makom), on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Green was arrested the previous day in Majd al-Krum while participating in a protest against a new outpost in the "Al-Rous" area, alongside local residents and activists.

The "All for One" party stated that Green's arrest occurred while he was defending the land rights of Majd al-Krum residents. They condemned the actions as attempts at intimidation and persecution by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, asserting that such tactics would not deter their commitment to supporting the community and defending their rights.

Police accused Green of assaulting an officer and damaging a police vehicle, allegations the party denies, citing video evidence that they claim contradicts the police narrative. The police had requested an eight-day extension of Green's detention, but the court rejected this plea.

The court gave police until 2:00 PM on Wednesday to file an appeal against the release order with the Central Court in Haifa. Until that deadline, police delayed implementing the release. If no appeal is filed, Green is to be freed.
