AIG Israel Employees Continue Strike, Disrupting Claims and Travel Services
Employees at AIG Israel are continuing their strike on Wednesday, with additional departments joining the action. The claims department and claims call center remain on strike, now joined by teams handling preservation and overseas travel insurance.
While the service department has resumed normal operations following a directive from the workers' committee, AIG customers will not receive service or responses regarding claims on Wednesday. Employees also anticipate disruptions in service for customers needing travel insurance for upcoming holidays.
The escalating actions by AIG Israel employees stem from a breakdown in negotiations between the company's management and the workers' committee and the Histadrut labor union, after nearly a year of discussions for a new collective agreement failed to yield results.
Tomer Malul, chairman of the AIG Israel workers' committee, stated, "We are continuing with organizational steps and will expand them as needed. Unfortunately, even now, management is not engaging with us in intensive and genuine negotiations that would allow us to reach an agreement. The employees want a fair agreement, not a prolonged struggle. The door is open for us, and we can return to the negotiating table at any time."
AIG Israel responded, "AIG continues to operate today, despite the work disruptions, and provides ongoing service to its customers. The company's service centers are active, along with all online platforms, and responses are provided in various areas, including claims processing. Regarding travel and stays abroad, the company continues to provide its customers with the necessary services. The company is prepared for the situation and is taking all necessary steps to ensure operational and service continuity so that its customers continue to receive the service they are entitled to. The work disruptions initiated by the workers' committee are unnecessary and do not advance anything. The company's management calls on the workers' committee to cease the disruptions and return to the negotiating table, together with the Histadrut."
