Russia Provided Iran Satellite Intel for US Base Attacks, CNN Reports

Russia provided Iran with advanced intelligence from 14 spy satellites during its recent conflict with the United States, enabling precise strikes on American assets in the Middle East, according to a CNN report. This collaboration was particularly evident during an Iranian missile attack on the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia in late March. At that time, 14 Russian satellites reportedly orbited the base shortly before it was hit, with some capable of capturing imagery and others monitoring communications and air defense systems.

The attack resulted in the injury of 12 American soldiers and significant damage to the base, including the destruction of a U.S. AWACS control and command aircraft valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. U.S. officials fear this was not an isolated incident, suspecting Russia has supplied similar intelligence to Iran on multiple occasions, including information that aided in an attack on a CIA asset in Riyadh.

The Kremlin has consistently denied providing assistance to Iran. However, the report highlights a deepening alliance between Moscow and Tehran, which has intensified since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Iran has previously supplied Russia with drones for its war in Ukraine, while Russia has reciprocated with intelligence sharing and advanced drone shipments during its conflict with the U.S. and Israel.
