Israel Enhances Gas Price Comparison Tool for Consumer Savings

The Israeli Ministry of Energy has expanded its home gas price comparison calculator, now providing consumers with an estimated annual saving from switching to the cheapest gas supplier in their area. Users can input details from their latest gas bill, including their current supplier, bi-monthly consumption, and the amount paid. For those using gas cylinders, the price per cylinder is required. The updated tool will then identify the most affordable supplier locally and the average annual savings achievable by switching.

The upgrade also includes a feature for residents in apartment buildings with a central gas system. This tool helps identify other buildings connected to the same system, using information from supplier websites or gas bills. The ministry suggests this information can assist residents looking to collectively switch to a different gas company.

Additionally, the calculator now offers two new guides: one for homeowners and another for residents in buildings with central gas systems seeking to change suppliers. These guides provide step-by-step instructions and frequently asked questions to facilitate the switching process.

Even consumers already using the cheapest local supplier can use the calculator to check if they are paying more than the supplier's reported average price to the ministry, thus identifying potential savings. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen stated that the initiative will increase transparency and make switching suppliers quicker and simpler.
