Suspect Arrested for Arson Spree Targeting Public Property in Hod Hasharon

Security patrols in Hod Hasharon, in cooperation with the Israel Police, apprehended a suspect during the eve of Rosh Hashanah for allegedly setting fire to community street libraries, trash bins, and a "giving cabinet" in the western part of the city. The suspect, a local resident in his thirties, was caught "red-handed" with flammable materials, believed to be on his way to commit another arson.

He was taken for further investigation, and during the holiday, a court approved the police's request to extend his detention pending indictment. The Hod Hasharon municipality announced it would also pursue civil action against the suspect to recover full financial compensation for the damage to public property, the distress caused, and the disruption to residents.

Rapid response from security patrols and firefighting teams prevented more extensive damage, while municipal workers cleared the affected areas overnight. The municipality stated that all damaged libraries and the giving cabinet would be replaced with new ones in the coming days. They expressed gratitude to all security, police, and emergency services for their vigilance and professionalism in maintaining the city's safety during the holiday.
