Firefighters Battle Blaze Threatening School in Umm al-Fahm
Firefighters and four aircraft from the 'Elad' firefighting squadron are working to contain a large brush and debris fire in the Umm al-Fahm area. Strong winds pose a significant risk of the fire spreading towards a nearby school, with heavy smoke already drifting towards the educational institution.
As a precautionary measure, students and staff have been instructed by authorities to shelter inside their classrooms to avoid smoke inhalation. The fire, which is burning through natural brush and dry debris, is being managed by four firefighting crews from the Hadera station, supported by an additional team from the Samaria station in the Judea and Samaria district.
Aerial support, including foam and retardant drops from the 'Elad' squadron's planes, is being deployed to demarcate the fire's perimeter. Firefighters on the ground are concentrating their efforts on preventing further spread and protecting nearby structures.
