Middle East Expert Says Arab World Welcomes Film Criticizing Israel

Middle East expert Yoni Ben Menachem stated that the Arab world is pleased with the film "Nezah" (a transliteration of the Hebrew title, likely referring to a film critical of Israel), which he believes promotes a false narrative. Ben Menachem explained in an interview on Channel 14's "Israel HaBoker" program that reactions in the Arab world have been very positive, with some calling for international action against Israel at the UN and other global organizations.

Ben Menachem criticized Israeli policy for allowing such a film to be produced and released, calling it a failure in public diplomacy and awareness campaigns. He expressed concern over Israeli society's tolerance for internal criticism, especially during wartime, citing former prime ministers, senior military officials, and reservists who he claims have slandered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

He further elaborated on the perceived failures of Israeli government bodies responsible for public relations and awareness, including the IDF spokesperson's office and the National Public Diplomacy Directorate. Ben Menachem suggested that the Foreign Ministry is the only entity still actively working to improve Israel's image, though its efforts are limited.

Ben Menachem called for the establishment of a dedicated body to combat negative narratives and improve Israel's public image, particularly in light of the film's release, which he noted was known to be coming for months without adequate preparation. He warned that without significant changes, this failure in public diplomacy would continue.
