Israel Launches High-Speed Rail Project Connecting Tel Aviv and Haifa

Israel Railways has awarded the tender for the first phase of the Tel Aviv-Haifa high-speed rail line to Danya Cebus. This ambitious project aims to significantly reduce travel time between the two major cities, with trains expected to reach speeds of up to 250 km/h on the new dedicated tracks. The total cost of the project is estimated at 17 billion shekels, with completion targeted for 2035.

The new line will run alongside the existing coastal railway but will feature two additional tracks specifically for high-speed services. The goal is to enable a journey from Haifa to Tel Aviv in approximately 30 minutes, without any intermediate stops. This upgrade is also projected to boost the network's capacity, potentially accommodating around 30,000 passengers per hour during peak times on the Haifa segment.

Danya Cebus's contract covers the section between Haifa and the town of Dor. This includes not only laying the tracks but also constructing essential infrastructure such as railway bridges, noise barriers, service roads, drainage systems, and the necessary power supply, signaling, and communication systems.
